It is a very special once-in-a-lifetime experience to walk with elephants and see these gentle giants up close and on foot. These elephants have grown up with humans and so they allow humans in their space. The relationship with humans is based on their routine and on food and the elephants tell us how much interaction or closeness they are ok with or not through their body language interpreted by the guides so it allows for a very relaxed natural interaction while they are feeding.
There will also be a lunch stop where you can enjoy a meal of your choice.
The scenery on the way to the elephants is also very picturesque with mountains all around and on the way we also drive past the Hartebeespoort Dam which is a scenic recreational dam tucked away at the foot of the mountains.
Nearby is the monkey sanctuary that has lemurs and monkeys so we recommend you visit that as well to do the Monkey forest walk. This would not add any extra cost to your tour because the location is so close by.
