Enjoy a short hike through a forested area which even has a swinging bridge. This is the home of the monkey sanctuary where rescued lemurs and monkeys can live out their lives in safety. (A moderate fitness level is required.) The monkeys are curious by nature and might approach you and even jump on you to investigate what is new in their world.
There will also be a lunch stop where you can enjoy a meal of your choice. Please note lunch is excluded from the price.
The scenery on the way to the monkey sanctuary is also very picturesque with mountains all around and on the way we also drive past the Hartebeespoort Dam which is a scenic recreational dam tucked away at the foot of the mountains.

We will collect you from your accommodation in the morning and bring you to the monkey sanctuary in preparation for the walk. The drive is approximately one hour long but the scenery is beautiful as we make our way out of Johannesburg and head towards the Magaliesburg Mountains; some of the oldest mountains in Africa.
Remember to bring a hat, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes and your phone or camera fully charged for photographs. Optionally you can also bring some electrolytes that you can drink with your water to stay hydrated after the walk. Although the walk is not strenuous or far and is not done at the peak of the heat, even the cooler early morning sun does have a dehydrating effect.
After the walk, you will have a chance to unwind and look around the lodge and curio section which also provides interesting views.
At the end of the tour we will return back to your accommodation or the airport
We’ll meet at your accommodation and introduce you to your guide the day. Then we’ll depart for the Monkey sanctuary. On the way we will drive through the scenic Magaliesburg Mountains.
We arrive at the Monkey Sanctuary in time for us to sign in and to get taken to where the walk starts
After a short introduction and some safety points, we will be able to walk into the monkey forest area and begin the walk with the help and guidance of the monkey keepers.
After the walk, we will head back to reception for some much-needed refreshments and time to absorb what you just experienced, share some amazing moments and photographs and look around the shop and enjoy the beautiful space.
