It is a very special once-in-a-lifetime experience to walk with elephants and see these gentle giants up close and on foot. These elephants have grown up with humans and so they allow humans in their space. The relationship with humans is based on their routine and on food and the elephants tell us how much interaction or closeness they are ok with or not through their body language interpreted by the guides so it allows for a very relaxed natural interaction while they are feeding.
Then enjoy a short hike through a forested area which even has a swinging bridge. This is the home of the monkey sanctuary where rescued lemurs and monkeys can live out their lives in safety. (A moderate fitness level is required.)
There will also be a lunch stop where you can enjoy a meal of your choice. Please note lunch is excluded from the price.
The scenery on the way to the elephants is also very picturesque with mountains all around and on the way we also drive past the Hartebeespoort Dam which is a scenic recreational dam tucked away at the foot of the mountains.

We had a wonderful time. The guide in the Monkey Walk made sure to engage the young children in the group. He gave us bowls of food so they would interact directly with us. I especially loved the Lemurs. It was incredible getting to feed and touch the elephants.
Sayomi was amazing and told us all about South Africa. My brother had a heat related issued and she stayed by his side until we knew he was ok.
